About Us
Brent and Hillary are two Utah natives with pioneer ancestry, that met way back in 1992 in Cedar City while attending the College of Education at Southern Utah University. They decided it would be a shame to ruin two families, so they got married.
After that, it was a 31-year whirlwind tour of most of Southwestern Utah, teaching special needs students and Kindergarteners. Brent was a principal for a while, but missed the classroom so much he went back.
They ended up in Garfield County, and after their 4 kids were grown and raised, they turned their attention to rescue horses and dairy goats. About this time, an unfortunate accident with an impaired driver cost Hillary most of the use of her legs. However, she's never been a quitter (as evidenced by staying married to that Brent character!) She bounced right back after a year in a hospital bed and went back to teaching in a wheelchair! During her forced sabbatical, she even taught herself how to make custom jewelry.
Later on, she rediscovered a soap recipe from her Great-Grandmother Gleave that was used in the frontier homesteads of Utah in the 1860s. These people were living the true 'Little House on the Prairie' life, raising their own meat, vegetables and grains, and enduring for the freedom and peace they sought for as pioneers. They raised 13 (yes, that's not a typo!) kids in a small home in the middle of nowhere! They required a LOT of soap, for skin, clothes, and dishes, so Granny got busy and made it, using mutton tallow and other natural ingredients from their own homestead.
Hillary noticed that her family seemed to always have skin irritations and other issues from commercial soaps and personal care products. So, being the dutiful and amazing mom and wife she is, she turned her attention to creating a homemade soap that would be good for sensitive skin and wouldn't have all those yucky unpronounceable chemicals in it. It was just meant for the family, but after a few friends got ahold of a bar or two, EVERYONE started asking her for more! Well, she got busy, and as a result, Lone Pine Soap Company was born!
Brent and Hillary retired from teaching in May of 2025, and moved to Lehi to be closer to their kids and grandkids. Since they couldn't take the horses and goats with them, they decided to throw all their energy towards creating simple, natural products that help regular folks smell great and feel awesome! Even though they're 'city mice' now, their hearts are still in the country, and they use locally sourced goat's milk and raw unfiltered honey from small family farms in their recipes. Hillary is the chemist and artist, Brent handles the website and the general 'fetch and carry'. Together with their son Casey, they craft these products in small batches by hand, so you can have a bit of Granny's goodness in your own home.
These soaps are even used by some of America's finest Marines at 8th and I in Washington DC, thanks to their youngest, who serves and protects us there as an active duty Marine! OORAH! If it can get a Marine clean and smelling fresh, imagine what it can do for you!
Now, listen to your Granny Gleave, and enjoy the simple goodness of these pioneer-inspired products. Don't make her get the switch!
